27. to 29. March 2020
At the beginning of the pandemic we were looking for a short backpacking trip close to home. My friend Stefan sketched up a loop near Pyramid Lake. It looked like an easy loop trail.
It turned out to be one of the most fun trips for me this year. The area was desolated and big parts of the trails were heavily overgrown. Often the trail disappeared all together. This brought on a challenge and a feeling of being remote and removed. Although fighting the brush was hard – I loved it.
On top of that, this trip had some beautiful variety. We walked on a shut down road, bushwhacked along Buck Creek, climbed up and down on barely visible trails and through snow below Sewart Mountain, descended “canyon-like” Big Cedar Creek, hiked on a beautiful open ridge and finally connected the loop along the riparian environment of Piru Creek.
If you’re up for an adventure then this one is for you!
